2012 ITINERARY
This year, our campaign is divided into three distinct geographic segments. If you are interested in coming on the road with us, please review our itinerary to further gauge your interest.
Trekking the Utah and Nevada Desert
Mileage: 760 miles from the Utah/Colorado state line to the Nevada/California state line
Timeline: March 4 to mid-May
Plan: Travel in small teams supported by a bike and trailer full of supplies. Potential for week-long treks along the road without the direct support of others outside the team. Each team will plan to cover a determined mileage each week while also fulfilling administrative duties. Additionally, we’ll travel with the support of the PUA bus where applicable.
Destinations: Kick-off event in Arches National Park and Moab, as well as travel through Capital Reef National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Cedar City, Extraterrestrial Highway, and Tonopah, NV.
Over the Colorado Rockies
Mileage: 460 miles from Last Chance, CO to the Utah/Colorado state line
Timeline: June to the end of August
Plan: We will be focused on executing large events in Denver, Boulder, and Grand Junction, as well as completing roadside pickups in eastern CO, Denver and the western slope. Additionally, we plan to backpack large sections of the Continental Divide Trail in the Rockies to cross the tallest mountains on our cross-country route.
Destinations: The greater Denver area, Keystone, Leadville, the twin lakes area, Mt. Elbert, Paonia, Hotchkiss, Fruita, and many high country trails.
Onward to the California Coast
Mileage: 250 miles from the California/Nevada State line to the San Francisco coast
Timeline: September to the end of October
Plan: This section will complete our three-year journey. Our efforts will be focused on our final celebration in San Francisco, organizing large clean-ups in the Bay area, and generating as much positive media as possible.
Destinations: Mono Lake, Yosemite National Park, Stockton, Richmond, Berkley, Oakland and San Francisco
